City Palace :

Once the capital to the princely state ruled by Raja Jai Singh 2 of Kachhwaha clan of Rajputs, old Jaipur (the walled city called pink city) is one of the most well planned of the pre-modern Indian cities. Built in pink stucco resembling sandstone, the city has broad symmetrical roads and streets giving it a very regal and ordered look. The borders of the city is marked by a wall and two gateways. Replete with reminiscences of a gallant royalty like the Hawa Mahal, City Palace, Amber Palace and fort (on the outskirts), Jaipur is now one of the most important heritage cities in the country and a must see for all the tourists visiting Rajasthan.

The look of the City Palace of Jaipur Made by Raja Jai Singh 2, the City Palace Complex occupies about 1/7th of the walled city. The magnificent brass gateway to the main palace builidng opens into a courtyard that overlooks the Mubarak Mahal, now housing the textile section of the Raja Sawai Man Sigh 2 Museum. The Chandra Mahal is a seven storey building endowed with brilliant frescos and mirror works in Rajput school of art. Every floor at this building has a separate name. Many consider the Chandra Mahal meaning the moon palace to be the centre of attraction at the Jaipur City Palace. The Shova Nivas at the 4th floor is exquisitely decorated with mirror work and gold and mica leaves.

City Palace :

As a means of commemorating the foundation of his new capital, Udaipur, Maharana Udai Singh ordered the construction of the City Palace, Udaipur, which was destined to be one of the largest palaces in the   world as well as a major tourist attraction of the Lake City of Udaipur. The foundation that was laid down by Udai Singh was followed by his descendents which have left the mark of centuries of construction styles   resulted on the City Palace, Udaipur as we see it today.
The city palace, Udaipur, which is constructed in styles influenced by  both Rajput as well as Chinese styles of architecture, is decorated with gardens, fountains and palaces that have maintained their feel of regal pride and cultural harmony over the years, mesmerizing visitors from  all across the world even today. The oldest part of the palace is the Raj Aangan or the Royal Courtyard which was built around the 16 th   century. Perhaps the most enigmatic part of the palace is the Krishna  Vilas, the room built in memory of the princess Krishna Kumari who committed suicide in extremely tragic circumstances. It is said that the   princess still haunts the palace, built in her memory by her father.
